about

Much of the reason I went with the pseudonym mopehead is due to tracks like this one. For a time I got really into recording sad acoustic songs (I guess I've never grown out of that come to think of it). These songs are not intended to be perfect, but rather real and honest (or real honest).
This track is unreleased (at least on CD), but was on a demo tape I was circulating (I think by buddy Jay might be the only person who still has his copy). When I hear tracks from this time period I get nostalgic - thinking about love that was and love that was lost. Every now and again I get a pang of pain and sadness, but I'm blessed now to have a wife and life I love more than loves I've lost and lives I could've had.

lyrics

She watches me sway
And I think I caught her with a smile

She will cheer up my camp at night
And the fire and all the smoke
Couldn't hide how I felt

The verses all melted together
And she knew I was singing her way
She caught me cryin'
The smoke got in my eyes

She would cheer up my camp at night
And the fire and all the smoke
Couldn't hide how I felt

"Psychedelic effects lend these admittedly mopey songs the lackadaisically sad quality of Spirit's "Nature's Way." Dreamy, dazed male vocals, prominent acoustic guitar and tie-dyed acoustic oddities. Try to imagine the Flaming Lips simply smoldering. ..." ... more
